Level 1 + Level 2 Rigging Certification Course

Taught by an accomplished crane instructor and Rigger Certifier, the Level 1 Rigger Certification Course and Level 2 Rigger Certification Course combines in-class content with practical experience.

Students receive classroom theory and hands on practical training including calculating load weights, finding load center of gravity, rigging loads and making actual crane lifts giving direction to the crane operator.

The goal of the Level 1 + Level 2 training program is to equip you for a safe career as a knowledgeable and confident rigger or rigging supervisor.

DAY 1 - LEVEL 1 RIGGER CERTIFICATION COURSE

• Crane and hoisting hand signals
• Load weight estimation
• Location of the load center of gravity (COG)
• Rigging hardware and appropriate uses
• Rigging hardware inspection and rejection criteria (regulations varied by jurisdiction)
• Use of rigging tables to select appropriate hardware for hoisting
• Sling angle capacity calculation
• Care and storage of rigging hardware
• Common hazards and safety around cranes and overhead hoists
• Lift planning and advanced topics awareness

Day 1 finishes with an assessment completed by the instructor who is a Rigger Certifier. After you are certified as a Level 1 Rigger you will receive a Fulford Cranesafe picture ID wallet card valid for 5 years, and may continue to the Level 2 Advanced Rigger Certification Course.

DAY 2 - LEVEL 2 ADVANCED RIGGER CERTIFICATION COURSE

Complex Load Calculations

• Calculate complex load weights
• Calculate complex combined load Centre of Gravity

Sling Tension Review

• Sling tension calculations for symmetrically rigged loads
• Use of sling capacity charts

Non-Symmetrical Sling Tension Calculations

• Share of load calculations
• Off-centre sling tension calculations
• Off-centre and unequal height sling tension calculations

Below the Hook Devices

Inspection & correct use:

• Spreader bars
• Lifting beams
• Plate clamps

Rigging for Suspended Work Platforms

• Regulatory requirements
• Rigging procedures

Classes are a total of 8 hours from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm (with 30 minutes for lunch) from Monday to Friday at the Bigfoot Academy Training Centre - 2170 Carpenter Street, Abbotsford, BC V2T 6B4, Canada
